3rd Grade

LEARNING THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER
Friday, Sept. 14 was National Anthem Day.  This marked the anniversary of when Francis Scott Key wrote the Star-Spangled Banner lyrics in 1814.  Students in schools across the US sing the Star-Spangled Banner on this day to celebrate and raise awareness of our National Anthem.  Students studied the history, lyrics (vocabulary - there are a lot of tough words in there!), music and citizenship of this piece.  Ask your child about the meaning of the Star-Spangled Banner, or ask them to sing it for you!  Here are some third graders at work putting the lyrics in the correct order and playing a memory game to memorize the words.

Third grade is off to a great start in music!  Students have been working on establishing good singing posture and singing in canon.  Ask your child to sing "Let's Begin!"

The 3rd Grade Music Curriculum is based on the elements of music and is aligned with the National and State Music Standards.  Take a look at what your child will be learning in 3rd grade!
